The Heroine’s Journey
We live in a time when the feminine is rising — speaking, advocating and reclaiming its place, calling for a reshaping of the structures and systems we live in. Yet many of the myths we inherit, and the stories we watch on film and OTT, still follow the Hero’s Journey: the lone hero who ventures out, fights monsters, endures trials and returns victorious.
The Heroine’s Journey offers a different model. The myths and stories it draws on imagine transformation differently — and, in doing so, offer different ways of imagining the world itself.
In this masterclass, celebrated author Samhita Arni explores the differences between the Hero’s and Heroine’s Journeys, and asks a larger question: can changing the stories we tell help us reshape the world we live in?
